I love Brantford Canada Day at the Lion's Park Steve Brown Complex at 12 Edge St., and I don't even live here! But my partner in crime, love, life, business and all things mechanical and mystical lives here. He convinced me to be a vendor at the 2024 Brantford Canada Day event. I was terrified!!! What did I know as a very new, very small business owner, about selling my dog cookies at a big city event???? Jerry confidently convinced me that my dog cookies solved an important problem; dogs with allergies can finally have a treat again. This was why I created my pet treats in the first place-only pet-appropriate ingredients and no cr*p. I agreed but I was still terrified!!!! I went with my 2 flavours of dog cookies, Peanut Butter and Beef Liver. After the first sale, I was hooked. Dogs and their parents liked what I made! We made a tidy profit that first year.
2025 I came with more confidence and 7 new products. My Just Dried line of single-ingredient, dehydrated pet treats for dogs, cats, birds and small animals were ready to meet the pets! Again, the feedback was so positive! "My dog is allergic to chicken. What do you have with no chicken?"
I was pleased to be able to respond with "My dog cookies have no wheat, corn, chicken, egg, soy or preservatives. My Just Dried treats are single-ingredient, nothing added pork loin, sardine filets, turkey sticks, sweet potato chips, apple chips and carrot chips". I love seeing a relieved dog parent look over my treats, knowing their allergen-sensitive dog can now have a safe choice of tasty treats. This is why I do this.
The coordinator of the Brantford Canada Day event, Alyshia Howard, is a rock star when it comes to organizing such a big event. She always makes the vendors feel important and welcome. This can't be an easy job but she does it with a smile! Thank you Alyshia. It is a very long day-set up at 8, tear down at midnight, but the vibe is so positive. Everyone is there to celebrate our wonderful country and red and white is everywhere. The Canadian musical performers are always amazing. Last year The Trews performed! One of my favourite bands. This year the headliner is Finger Eleven.
The venue is pet-friendly. I love meeting all the families and dogs and fellow vendors I see every year there and at other events. Looking forward to another exciting Brantford Canada Day this year.
If you know me as Gryphy's Cookie Jar, you are in for a change. Because we have grown so much, we have evolved into a more sophisticated and multi-pet-product company. Our new name is Blue Rose Pet Bakery. Same great allergen-sensitive pet treats, just more to pick from. We have treats for dogs, cats, birds, small animals and equines (horses, donkeys, mini horses, ponies).
Come by the Blue Rose Pet Bakery booth in the Outdoor Marketplace for free samples for all your pets. Hope to see you there!!!!!!
